We love Maui and love staying at Kanai A Nulu. This unit was nice, but a bit limited in kitchen utensils, and glasses.

Communication from property management was great. Condo had positives and negatives: AC worked great, kitchen and bathroom were well supplied, location was great. All the windows leaked onto walls and floors during a rainstorm, the dryer kept shutting off indicating the clean filter on every load, the screen on the slider kept sticking and going off track. Sherry was very helpful in managing the wet floors and made sure all our wet towels were cleaned by the maid, after the rain storm.

Great view and direct access to the beach; part of a large concrete condo. The main office was oddly never open during our stay, so we never registered our vehicle as requested; but there were clear instructions to get access to the room and garage. The room seemed clean, but not the patio. Well furnished and stocked with chairs, coolers, beach towels, etc. The location is also nice, quick access to Kihei, Kahului, etc.

We stayed here with family. Couples getaway 4 of us-The condo is very well stocked, close to the beach and pool. Close to anything you want to do with a rental car. You have a great view of the ocean. Love the new paint colors. It’s very beachy. I have stayed here before but it was the others that did not. They loved it!!!

This unit worked well for our daughter and family. The view is direct ocean front, sand and ocean at the door step! The pool and grounds are well cared for and location great! Although second bedroom is small, it worked and everyone was happy. Thanks Sherry!!

Love this place! You can see and hear the waves rolling in from every room. The furnishings are great, kitchen is fully stocked, including the milk frother, yeah! There were plenty of spices, coffee filters and such when we were there (not a stocked item). There was enough laundry detergent, dishwasher soap and cleaning supplies to last our 2 week stay. The closet has lots of pool and beach toys...chairs, sandcastle supplies, pool noodles, boogie boards, etc The views are unmatched, especially during whale season, see them from the lanai. You pass the pool as you walk the few steps to the beach. It’s the last condo on the Sugar Beach strip, and has miles of walking. A short walk in the other direction is the farmers market for fresh wood, and a bakery for mornings. The elevator is nice when you have groceries, and reserved parking is convenient. (Note: no EV chargers). Island location is perfect too, easy access to all the activities...Haleakala, Hana, Iao, Ka’anapali, even Costco ;)

We loved staying at this Condo. It exceeded our expectations! The property management staff were very responsive, professional and friendly. The view from every room is amazing! Well stocked Condo. This really is a beautiful property. The beach was lovely. If I am fortunate enough to come to Maui again I would love to stay here. Thank you!

We stayed in Maui for a month. We needed a break from the snow. It was fantastic.

I was lucky to spend 14 glorious days in unit 405! It was clean, comfortable and in a great location. Doing the stairs to the pool/beach several times a day was an added bonus for me, made me feel like I was getting a small workout in! The unit has most everything you need for at least a weeks stay. The grounds crew did a great job of keeping everything clean, the lawn, pool area and BBQ's were cleaned daily.

Love Ma'alaea Bay
We had a wonderful time. The condo was great, however the king bed was a bit too firm and the AC was only useful in the living room area without the assistance of floor fans.

Very enjoyable vacation at Kanai A Nalu unit 405

The location is great, quiet by Maui standards but reasonably close to most things you may want to do. The property itself is nice, well kept grounds and the vibe/guests were generally chill. The unit we stayed in is nice enough, it had a nice view worth taking the stairs or elevator to the 4th floor. The unit was clean, except the windows of the master bedroom which were so dirty you couldn't enjoy the great view from them. There are some easy upgrades that would improve a guest's stay dramatically. The beds are not in great condition, especially the twin beds. The sheets are old and pilled. And the pillows should be tossed out, don't even donate them. For roughly $400 a night in a destination that rents nearly 100% of the time, it's a small ask that would greatly improve guests' comfort and overall experience. We would stay at the same property again, but would likely look for a different unit.

We began staying here in 1978...have returned many times. This resort is always beautiful, quiet, inviting, and well-situated on Maui. Destination Maui staff were wonderful to deal with.

The Good
-The view is lovely. We sat on the balcony every morning and evening.
-The condo was stocked with dishes, pots and pans, spices, oils, medicines, lots of towels, blankets, extra sheets, and loads of beach toys and boogie boards.
-The property grounds is well maintained. There is a grill that is kept clean and a couple of picnic tables.
-The location of the condo on the island is great. It’s halfway between all the West Maui beaches and the South Maui beaches and not too far from the upcountry.
The Bad
-The pool. My 11 year old daughter wanted to swim in the pool everyday when we returned from our adventures. However...the pool had “adult time” (ages 18+) from 12-1 and 5-9 everyday. That’s the time she wanted to swim—after 5pm. If you have kids who love pool swimming, maybe skip this place.
-The beach is not super pretty, but it is a nice walking beach. The water is more dark brown than blue. If you leave the condo and head south, you’ll pass at least a few beach vagrants. If you head north, it’s really pretty and there aren’t any condos north of this resort, which is nice. There was a guy smoking marijuana on the beach in the mornings, but he was staying with his family at the condo.
The Ugly
-The pool. Did you see the pool comment? I had to mention it again because is was annoying every. single. day. If I would have know about the crazy pool rules, I wouldn’t have booked here. I spoke to several other families staying there and they said the same thing.
Apparently, one of the condo owners said this new pool rule for no kids just happened a couple of months ago (after we booked). The condo board passed it quietly without input from other owners. How terrible. And how sneaky to not say anything to people who booked their trips prior to passing the no kids rule?

Room was excellent. Master bed very good size and comfortable. Second bedroom was also comfortable. Views were fantastic. Room was excellent, both tv's worked including cable and internet connection was very good.
Supplies were also good... we cooked numerous meals in kitchen. All appliances worked. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have come to expect clean and well stocked rooms and this was no exception. We always look first to Kealia when planning our trips.
Even the eight hour flight went well.

The condo was not clean, fan didn't work and shower would flood. Elevator out of order on Monday and still out on Thursday.

First off, the view from this rental is stunning. You are right on your very own, very private beach. You won't need your noise machine to sleep here because the ocean waves are right outside your window. The location is great because you are minutes from Big Beach, which has been named the most beautiful beach on the island. Plus it's easy to get to all the tourist attractions in the northwest part of the island.
For the rental itself, it was very nicely equipped. All the cooking utensils you need and some surprise benefits like chairs to take to the beach, sunscreen available, and even beach towels for you to use. The washer and dryer were great and allows you to pack less than you normally would. They even had beach totes available to pack up everything you would need for a day at the beach. Plus, two air condition units in the rental allows you to keep it as cool as you could want.
Any negatives with this rental were very minor. They have a small cooler available for use, which we used every day, but the top is ripped, so it doesn't stay sealed, but it kept our things cool. The garage door opener was held together with tape, so it had a tendency to come apart on us, but we found more tape in the unit and reinforced it and it did fine. But the fact that it has a garage door opener lets you know that you have underground garage parking, which is extremely nice and keeps your car cool.
I would definitely stay here and recommend it to anyone who is visiting Maui.
